Pop Rock and Drop It

       Pop rocks were all the rage in the 1990s. In all honesty, they were probably the best tiny little rock candies every created by the round man. “Eating” pop rocks was always a fun and interesting experience. I mean a candy fizzling like a diet coke, how odd is that. So I am taking my love of these interesting tiny candies into the classroom. I am going to attempt to use pop rocks to attempt to teach little second graders about the continents of the world. In case you did not know, Pop Rocks were made in Spain and Spain is in the continent of Europe. Just a little fun fact of the day I thought I would share. Also, in the name of teaching the continents I will run by World Market to get a new fall scarf.

       While I was collecting my “goods” today to teach the continents, I learned a lot about the world that I did not know before. I do not know if that is good or bad since I’m supposed to be the teacher one day, hopefully soon. Of course in the middle of gathering my supplies the bottom fell out of the sky. Word on the street is that there is a cold front coming through town. I’m glad there is a cold front coming through because the humidity is horrible. My hair simply will not lay flat at this point in time. Anyhow, so I am going to teach the continents and use Pop Rocks to do so. Oh, and I'm going to use a fun little song from the Animaniacs. If it were not for those little guys I would not know all of the states and their capitals.

 This song is permanently engraved in my mind now.

I found a plethora of Pop Rocks at World Market. World Market certainly has some interesting treats to buy.

So. Many. Accessories. I simply cannot choose. I wish my wallet was not so flat like me. I want one of everything.

Shoes, Shoes, and More Shoes.

-->
          I love Wednesday’s because it is almost Friday! Friday’s are the best days because that means I survived another busy week. Anyways, today was a very special day. For the first time today I went to watch Mrs. Smith at XYZ Elementary School teach her sweet little second graders. It was an interesting day to say the least. To say little children are inquisitive is an understatement. I may have answered at least 100,00 questions about why I am flat and not round like them; they had never seen a flat person before. But I mean there is not that much difference between us.
          I stayed in Mrs. Smith’s classroom all day to see how she runs the show. I found math to be particularly interesting. There were no m&ms used in the teaching of graphs and things of that nature. Intrigue. She made teaching look really easy. I have a feeling it is not always as easy as it looks. Children prey on the week and the vertically challenged. Being 10 inches tall may not be in my favor when I'm a full fledged "grown up." At the end of the day I received terrible news. I would HAVE to write lesson plans and ACTUALLY perform the lesson. The P-2 lesson plan format is no joke; it's serious stuff. I can't even bend my arms and I cannot find my hands, so this will take creativity. After receiving such news I was less than pleased. So, to cheer myself up I made a trip to Target to fly around and see what mischief I could get into. Once I happened upon the shoe isle I decided I REALLY needed some new shoes. There is something about a new and cute pair of shoes that just seems to make everything better. I justified my new purchase because I have had these pink shoes since the beginning of time, seriously. The only problem is that I'm indecisive and I do not know which shoe to buy. I like them both, but my little flat wallet says I only like one. Which color do you think I should buy?

Bagels, Acai Berry Tea, and Aerobics! Oh My!

         -->
         Saturday, oh how I love thee! After a very busy week it is nice to have one day that is not scheduled hour by hour.  I know most “normal” people sleep until noon on a Saturday, but this morning I woke up at 6:00 a.m. The promise of a chocolate chip bagel and acacia berry tea from Panera Bread Company will get me out of bed early every time. The chocolate chip bagels are every so scrumptious; the chocolaty chips just melt in your mouth.   Simply put, chocolate chip bagels are a little piece of heaven right here on Earth. Maybe if Amber and I made a bagel trip everyday to Panera I wouldn’t be flat anymore, because my family always says, “Too many bagels will make too much __________________ (insert chosen first name here).” It makes sense to eat more bagels and get rounder, this is basic math.
          After bagels and tea we went to our Saturday morning (8:30 a.m.) BodyStep at Gold’s Gym. Being flat, I’m not all that great at aerobics, but I really look to people watch at the gym. Group fitness is especially fun to watch. You can tell people think they are executing the moves correctly and gracefully. However, what you think you look like and what you actually look like are two very different things. Watching Amber is pretty fun too. Poor thing, it just takes her a hot minute to full wake up and get going. Her coordination has improved though so that is a plus. I like to go to aerobics on Saturday mornings with Amber because it gives me an excuse to wake up before noon and be productive. After class I feel revitalized and ready to begin my day. I'm especially excited about today because the weather is beautiful and I have a full day of nothing planed.

 Here I am at Panera Bread eating a chocolate chip bagle and drinking acai berry tea. Everyone should try this lovely little combination.

Not Just Another Manic Monday

Monday’s are not usually my favorite, but today was a pretty decent Monday.  For starters, it was such a beautiful morning/day today. Instead of staying at home all day with Harley I went with my sister to work; she works at a Mother’s Day Out program in Mountain Brooke. Today was their first day back after a weeklong break from the summer program. However, today was not exactly what I expected. There were not any kids at the preschool today because apparently this week is a teacher’s workweek. Of course, she failed to mention that part; I was really looking forward to playing with some really cool kids. So, instead of playing with the kids today I listened to the director discuss policies and procedures. Can you say boring?
After a three hour long meeting I went with my sister and the other teacher in the room to see their classroom. They have a BUNCH of fun gizmos and gadgets in their room. While those two were moving furniture I decided to color and wait in a chair by the door. I was so ready to go because I was getting really hungry. By the time we left at 2:00 p.m. my stomach was growling even louder than a lion, that is a true story. So, after working tirelessly we went to one of my FAVORITE places for lunch, Tazikis. Amber owed me a Tazikis trip for being a good sport today. Since it was so pretty today I even convinced her to let us sit outside on the patio. The Tazikis at Lee Branch is my favorite because they have a beautiful patio outside with a waterfall nearby. I am glad we were able to enjoy the sun today because I hear that the rest of the weak will not be so pretty. I heard something about a hurricane on the news this morning, that does not sound so good.

Oh, you know just sitting around watching preschool teachers at MBCC Journey arrange classroom furniture. I wonder if they noticed if I left to get lunch. Hmm.

Here I am saving a table for Amber and I at Tazikis. I am such a good friend/sister to save a table all by myself.

Finally, A Day to Rest

      Finally, a day to rest! This week has been a very busy week. We have all been scurrying around trying to prepare my brother and sister for a new school year. I like to help them get ready, but I am tired. I am so glad it is finally Saturday, so I can spend a relaxing day at home with my family. Since today is my first “free day,” I decided to spend some time catching up on some reading. I recently finished the Hunger Games series as well as The Uglies series; they are fantastic books.
      I have been reading in the library at home since noontime and it is now 4:50pm; time flies when you are having fun! I picked the perfect day to read since it is really cloudy outside. It has not rain yet, but I think it will rain soon. I heard something about a hurricane on the news this morning, so I am keeping a close eye on things. I have been reading on the bookshelf so I can keep a close eye on things.

Here I am reading on the bookshelf. My family has a lot of interesting things for me to read.

I decided to rest on the mantle of the fireplace with Harley. He looks so peaceful. Don't tell my brother or sister, but he likes me the best.
